Medical Videoconferencing - MDT Meetings

Southmead MDT room

Video South designed the first room dedicated to this purpose in 2000. The brief was to allow professionals on two sites to conduct case conferencing relating to the immediate management of current patients. The sites were two hours' travel time apart but had significant numbers of patients in common. We developed a room with good local presentation and seminar facilities, which had integral videoconferencing. This allowed the very easy showing of high quality images and data in a discussion that could be conducted at natural speed between colleagues.

Since then, we had installed such rooms, and our standard design has evolved to meet the needs of health professionals in many cancer networks and cardiology groups. Key design features include:

  • Excellent local seminar and presentation facility
  • Twin matched video projection of a type suited to radiology and pathology imaging
  • Ceiling microphone - speak anywhere in the room
  • Wall-mounted x-ray film viewing - put up 8 films ready to view
  • PACS integration
  • Patient record display
  • Pathology microscope display
  • Multi-site participation
  • User operation by wireless touch panel with excellent graphical presentation of facilities - use from any position in the room
